Summer is in! I’m sure everyone is making their own plans where to spend their time to beat the heat. Check out Masasa Beach in Tingloy Batangas. It was 5:15 AM and darkness still lingers when we left the house where we were staying to start on our trek to Mt. Mag-Asawang Bato. Feeling the morning breeze blowing gently made my body chill. I was with my father, siblings, 12-year old niece and cousin during this hike. Our guide said that it would take about an hour to get to the peak of Mt. Mag-Asawang Bato for beginners like us (we were all beginners except for my brother and his girlfriend) however for them they can do it in 30 minutes.
Hmmm…Was it really that easy? I have a doubt in my mind since I am not an experienced hiker nor was I in the best shape to hike.Continue reading
I turned to my best bud, Mr. Google :-), for directions because I’m off to Fort Amsterdam. Fort Amsterdam is one of the two historic forts in St. Maarten (Dutch colony). It was the first fort to be built by Dutch settlers in the Caribbean, in 1631. It was then captured by the Spaniards and made it an important stronghold east of Puerto Rico.
It remained under the control of the Dutch after the Spaniards left the fort in 1648. Fort Amsterdam is the nearest attraction from the terminal aside from the Boardwalk. It rests atop of a hill keeping an eye on the enormity of Great Bay and Little Bay and this is where the tides had brought and stirred me to pen another page in my biking diary.
Fifteen minutes past 12:00 noon, I have reached Seahorse Guest House, the hotel where I stayed for 4 days and 3 nights. I immediately checked-in, had a quick rest then prepared my stuff, reviewed my map (it was very helpful, you can get it from here) and then I jumped off of my bed and hit the road.
